Loved Baby
Give Yourself the Gift of Postpartum Support
What is a Postpartum Doula?
A Postpartum Doula will help families after the birth and/or bringing home of a new baby. The role of the Postpartum Doula is to offer guidance around infant feeding and care, provide emotional and physical support in regards to recovery from childbirth, help with infant soothing, and be a sounding board for new parents.
A Postpartum Doula will also help with light housework, fix meals, and offer to incorporate older children into the new experience. This role is about encouraging new parents, caring for them by ensuring they rest and are fed, and helping the whole family adjust to life with a newborn.
In short, I will be there to care for the baby but also for the mother/birthing person and partners. I will anticipate the needs of the family to help you have a smooth and stress-free transition into parenthood.
What Do You Do During a Visit?
Daytime Visits During these visits, I will check in with you about how the night went, ask how you’re feeling (physically and emotionally), and start by addressing any immediate concerns. If you’re having any challenges with feeding, often that is addressed first. We can then make a plan together for how I can best support you during the visit. Often that looks like me holding the baby while you shower or helping prepare food while you breastfeed.
Overnight visits On your first time home with your newborn, I will stay with the baby and give bottle feedings or bring the baby to you to nurse. I will change diapers/clothing/bedding as needed and can help prepare breakfast for parents before leaving in the morning. I will help mom in and out of bed to use the bathroom, bring hot and cold packs, or support with any other care needs.
Rates
Daytime Visits: $1000 / 5 days Daytime visits are from 10 am-2 pm Monday - Friday. You may purchase 5 days or 10 days (2 packages). Ideally, the postpartum support will continue over consecutive weekdays, however, accommodations can be made for pediatrician appointments or days off school. Please reach out to book.
Overnight Visit $500 / 1 night Overnight visits are from 8 pm- 6 am and usually occur the first or second night you are home with your baby. I bring my own sheets and pillows, water, and snacks. I can lie on a couch with the bassinet next to me or in the baby’s room if there is a place to lie down. If mom and baby are sleeping and there are no household tasks (laundry, meal prep, dishwasher) I will close my eyes for a bit but I do not go into deep sleep. I can wake the baby for bottle feedings or bring the baby to mom to nurse.
Lactation Support Visit $150/ 2 hours I provide lactation support in the comfort of your own home. I have breastfed, pumped, bottle-fed, and formula-fed two children of my own and I will support you in whatever stage of the baby-feeding journey you are in. Currently, I am working to become a Certified Lactation Counselor and hope to have this completed in early 2024.
